Computering with Tilmann
My first laptop, a Toshiba T2150CDS, I've had since May 1995, has been an amazing tool, but it's now quite slow with its 486-75MHz processor. Then I used an IBM T21 from 2001- today (PIII 850, 32GB and 128MB RAM), with a great screen (1400x1050) but now sveral problems are starting to emerge. After 10 years of MS Windows  I've had it UP TO HERE and decided to go for Apple. My Powerbook G4 (60GB, 1 GB RAM) has now given me good service, but not without its problems, it has a few irks that get to me. Why is there no right hand mouse button??? On the other hand startup times are actually fast, virtually instant, a major bonus compared to PC's, and sometimes several MONTHS go by without having to reboot it! Just close the lid and open it later again... It's great. And- no viruses at all so far.
A superb story is my Palm Tungsten E. There's instant useful stuff in the league of the Toshiba, but tiny compared to that, including heaps of music and photos. Now using the Treo 680 I can also have a mobile phone with all this functionality. So far not bad for the price, the iPhone will have to wait a bit.
